Bliss, Beauty, n Portia

Adam n Eve recently released the Portia skins — the first in a new generation of skins by sachi Vixen.  Let me tell you, they are gorgeous.  Now, you know now much I like comparing things, so here we’ll take a look at Portia with two previous Adam n Eve skins, Bliss and Beauty.

About Portia:  she’s beautiful.  Notably, she comes with a hairbase (not shown here) in three different haircolors: dark, blonde, and red; each has matching eyebrows, which I love love love.  The eyebrows are, in my opinion, perfection.  The arch is graceful and classic, and there’s just enough detail of individual eyebrow hairs.  The eyes are lovely, as always, and Portia’s nose has more definition than previous versions.  The lips have a pleasing shape, and I’ll draw your attention to the subtle shading below the lips and into the chin — it’s well-done and shows a keen eye for detail.  The freckles are the same as the previous generation of skins, but as I love them, that doesn’t bother me a bit.  New with Portia is freckled/unfreckled options in each makeup, as well as the hair color/hair base options.  I also like the overall blend of youth and sophistication Portia brings.

I’ve only shown neutral makeup here, but there is a full line of 12 makeups available, with a variety of eyeshadow/lip colors and a few “exotic” makeups.  Check the full line of makeups here.

Now, the differences in the bodies of theses skins is particularly striking to me, and really shows how each generation is truly a new set of skins.  Working from the top to the toes, please note the differences in collarbone, arm shading, boob shading.  Check out how each skin rocks a unique set of abs.  How the leg shading changes along the thigh, into the knee, down to the shin and to the toes.  (Don’t mind my hideous ankles, please.)  While sachi’s artistry shows in all three skins, Portia shows a certain sophistication of shading, particularly in the collarbone, knees, and toes.  She is a bit shiny, but I find that it’s hard to find a middle ground between a flat, two-dimensional-looking skin and one that’s a bit shiny.

As we move to the back, we again see differences in the skins, both obvious and subtle.  The shoulder-blades and elbows have been handled in a new way, and there’s more distinct shading along the sides.  There is more detail along the spine.  Butt cleavage has been minimized in Portia, which in my book is a good thing, but it’s something to consider depending on your SL profession.  The underside of the buttocks is more pronounced, with a bit perkier appearance.  There are slight improvements along the leg shading — note the highlight along the side of the leg, and the anklebones are more pronounced.  Like the front, we’re looking at slightly shiny but overall sophisticated handling of the body.

A final note:  I’ve shown the skins in the palest tone, because I’m a pale person, but they’re all available in 4 different tones.
